I think the problem lies in the bore of the axle. It was elongated at the ends and tight in the middle with the current pin. In fact I had to do some honing to get it through. I believe there was more slop with the original pin both in the bracket bushing and in the axle, that combined with wear let everything mate up easily. I am going to turn down the axle part of the pin a little .025-.050" and see how it goes together. It is definitely better than When I got it. Lying underneath I noticed the pin was made out of 1.5" regular old pipe....pretty scary, and pretty loose.
