The reference I have here is the instruction manual for the lighting and/or starting attachment for the A and B (1941). I would guess the same or similar for other models of the same time frame. It appears that the wires inside the loom had tracers. The ones that were just a single cable evidently didn't. At least the parts descriptions don't list tracer colors for the single cables. That makes sense. If it doesn't disappear inside a loom, it should be fairly easy to find the other end of the same wire.
In the loom:
Switch to headlamp - black (splice inside loom for second headlamp)
generator field to switch - natural with black tracer
gen to ammeter - natural with red and black cross tracers
Not in the loom, unspecified color:
ammeter to starter
switch to rear lamp
battery cables
ammeter to switch
gernerator field jumper (if no lights).
This same information is in the Parts Catalog for the A and B. It is probably in the others as well.
