Jim, I just checked my I&T,Vol.IH-8 for ya'. Para. 88 states that the crank pin diameter should be 1.749-1.750" and the running clearance should be 0.001-0.0035". Just for good measure, the main journal diameters should be (para. 90) 2.124-2.125" and the running clearance should be 0.001-0.0035". IMHO, clean up both the rod AND main journals, mike for size and circularity THEN determine if the crank needs grinding and the correct undersized inserts. BTW, it's the excessive clearance in the MAIN bearings that causes a drop in oil pressure...excessive rod bearing clearance causes rod knock and eventually a window in your block. Don't forget to inspect the oil pump and relief valve while ya' got the pan down ! Hope this helps !! Eddie Petty, Courtland, Va
