I have been running a generic belt on my L59 for about 3 years now without problems except that the belt is about 3 or 4 inches shorter than the Woods belt and that causes the mower to be too near the rear tires. I've used the mower a lot and it does not show much wear. If your belt is twisting up and turning over in the sheaves, it is not installed correctly, or it is not tight enough, or the belt is worn out. When properly installed, the belt must be very tight. I've been using this same mower for 35 years and belts typically last 4 or 5 years mowing 4 or 5 acres on a regular basis.
