It is held in with a wire ring 9you might have to dig for it, or it might be a ring of corrosion and needs "chipping" out. The higher heat is correct. be sure to put it in with the heat capsule toward the engine.
When alcohol was used as the antifreeze (ethylene Glycol was not invented) it was necessary to keep engine temps as low as was possible and still run OK. Thus the other range. Not a good idea, as it will make it run less efficiently. Jim
