IH 424?

Up the road from me is what I think is an IH 424. I am pretty much IH ignorant, but I've never heard of a 424. I have seen and used 444, 454, 464, and 504, but never heard of 424.

Did IH make a 424, or is this "creative stickering"?

If so,:

Is there anything special I should look/look out for (something the caliber of the Ford POS, oh I mean SOS tranny)? I have just very briefly glanced over it, but am going back this weekend to give it the once-over.

Where will I find the serial #.

Any more info, such as hp, options would be greatly appreciated.
