Keith: Go for it. Close your eye a bit when considering the cost as those diesels can get spendy. I guess the main bearings are $100 each but there are always a few items that are extra cost no matter what tractor is considered. There are manuals from binder books just to the left of these notes near the top of the coloum. Justen also has some. There are a few people on these forums that are real experts on those 4 cylinder gas start engines. Hope they all reply as that engine is my favorite. Also check with Case-IH for all items. Some dealer are extra helpful with the older tractors so brouse around the "article archives" just to your left under research & info. There was a guy named Roger that just finished rebuilding a MD and I'll email him to send info to you. Since I grew up on a '41MD and 53Super MD, my big point is say: GO FOR IT.
