Yes you can. Before you take it off though crank the engine by hand and listen for the impulse clicks. Stop turning the engine just after #1 cylinder hits. You can then take the mag off. I put mine in my bench vise and turn the impulse driver with a little crank jig I made. When you are ready to put it back, turn the mag impulse driver until #1 just trips. then reinsert it. Then fine time it so that the impulse clicks trip on the first mark of the two marks on the front fan pulley. Hope this helps.
