Why On H Front Wheel

Why on the front wheel of my H do you have to take the bearings and everything out just to get the wheel off? Dad says that engineer should have been shot but I do not think we have something on right or something. Another question, I was talking to a guy at a show the other day who had a really nice M and he said his generator did not work for anything....just like mine. He and I both have went to the place to get it fixed and they say they fixed it....is there some kind of design flaw in these generators? Also put new regulator in too. Thanks in Advance!!! RC
