In the almost 60 years since my 1952 SC was built, the original rubber bushings for the seat shock have basically been rendered useless (top ones were no where to be found...)
Local big auto parts store employees, when asked if they stock replacement rubber bushings for shocks, looked at me with the same expression I get when I ask about parts for my Studebakers (which they can still get many parts for but are still clueless)...
Finally went to an "old time" parts store I knew about - where the guy still has a wall of parts books and the computer is something he uses at a minimum. He told me "oh yeah, some guy came in last week looking for the same type of thing - I will order another set - bring in the shock and mounting bolts and we will see if they will fit." I think this guys has found a new life-long customer - and besides, he stocks my favorite synthetic motor oil (Royal Purple) and is priced even cheaper than I can get it online...
Ended up with a Rancho replacement bushing kit. The bushings are one piece and hourglass shaped - perfect for the shock on the SC.

With a rubber mallet they went in pretty easy. Only had to shave a small amount of material off each end so they would slide into place.
Not sure if IH used the same type of bushing on more than the C and SC, but in case they do I hope someone can use this information. And the best part? They are red...
