You need full fuel flow for a few minutes. Get a hose and drain the gas into a gas can for a while. Sound like you have the standard rusty gas tank problem. It dies so fast when it runs out of gas that you think it is an electrical/ignition problem. Once the carb refills with gas, then it starts and runs till the line plugs off again. Sometimes you can get just enough flow it will run for 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes. Crank up the throttle when you do this.
