Probably 90% of tractor wt. But being safe means that the steering wheels need at least 20% of the weight to steer reliably, and then only for off road use, or low speeds (10mph or less). A 45foot trailer is OK if it is ballanced on axle location to put solid but managable toung Wt. on the tow vehicle. Brakes are another factor of usability. Two rear wheels with modest load on them do not stop, in a controlable manor, a 30 ton load. Jim
