I'm replacing all the transmission bearings, along with suspect final drive/axle bearings in my Super A, and readjusting the differential and PTO gears ($$$). Curious as to whether that will quiet the transmission/final drives. I suspect most of the noise is from the differential ring and pinion. But, Gene Bender says most of the noise is silenced by replacing the front bearing in the transmission. Since I'm replacing all of them, I won't be able to confirm or deny that. Been told many times that the noise is normal, due to the "square cut" gears. My 2 C's have the same transmission, for the most part but different differentials -- they are quiet. I may or may not find out. Due to the wear on the gears, all of this might not help much.
