It won't hurt to get it cut just to make sure it is flat !
I had a 8060 "M" head cut .125 and that was to much ,it caused cracks to start forming.
I have a 450 gas head that was cut .040 and that has worked fine.
Keep in mind that when you cut the head there is a point that you will have to put spacers under the rocker arm pedestals to bring the adjustment back into the rockers.
