As bad as I hate to admit it, it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and demand. A few years ago I had 4 old Corvette wheel covers that had been sitting in a shed for many years that I wanted to sell. In central MO I knew there was no way to sell and get anywhere near what they were worth, but knew that somewhere out there I could find someone needing them for a restoration. I would have been lucky to get $50 for the set locally, if I could find a buyer at all. I listed them individually one at a time (started them around $10 each if I recall with no reserve). I ended up getting on average about $50 each out of them. I guess that was what they were worth on that day. The buyers were happy, and I was happy. On the other side of the coin, I have bought many items I could never find locally, but the old sayings "let the buyer beware" and "a fool and his money are soon parted" applies. Don't get me wrong, there are many crooks on ebay, but it does do one thing, and that is open a market that would normally not exist such as was the case in my parts.
