I don't know offhand when the serial number plate was moved to the seat frame. I have a '46 and that's where it's mounted. Serial number plates for early A"s and B"s were riveted to the cover below the fornt of the platform. Many of these are missing the serial number plate or the cover itself. The cover hides some of the return springs, pivot points, and linkages for the pedals. If you can find some letters on castings or an engine serial number, the year of production can be narrowed down a bit. Also, does it have a rubber shift knob? How about a 1 1/8" diameter PTO shaft? Do both rear wheels have the lighter centers or is the right side heaver looking, almost like a wheel weight? AG
