Pat, The only brand of mower we have ever had is IHC, from horse 5ft. on up to the 1100 series. We had one on an H as you describe with a 7 ft. bar. Worked good for that time but now I wouldn't even think of one. If it still has the old guards with ledger plates you will be disapointed. The pitmans are a real pain also. Think I would agree on a JD # 5 but only if it had the high speed setup for the pitman. Ralph
