The 460 was poorly received in this area when they came out. They either got traded or got reduced to secondary status (instead of primary tractor) if the farmer could afford to keep it plus buy another tractor. In defense of IH (and the other mfg's back then) it was a bit of a crap shoot back in the 1950's in terms of developing a tractor in terms of features and horsepower that would be relevant to the farmer/ customer. Ford set itself back permanently from the days of N series dominance when it did not adequately address the need for a high horsepower row-crop tractor until 1968.
