I tried every way I could think of to get a Delco alternator to fit under the hood of an H. Finally gave up and put the original 6 volt generator back on it. A Delco alternator is just plain too big for an H. From reading the experiences of others on this board, a Hitachi alternator is what you need.
If you will measure the diameter of that Delco, and then measure the distance between the valve cover to the inside of the hood where that alternator will live, you will find that it just plain ain't gonna work.
