I've seen $700 dollar SMTA grills on eBay. Never seen a hood but I imagine they are pricy as well. It's a one year item. Your best bet is a MD hood. You will have to relocate the holes but the length and blister location are right. I have two MD hoods but can't see selling them for the typical $100 or less asking price. Not when F-400 and W-400 power steering emblems go for $150.
You could have bought an entire SMTA last Saturday at auction in IA for $575. I'll bet it is now worth $3000 to the new owner. Sometimes you can luck out. Good luck.
The rare stuff is worth the money because it is capable of future appreciation. The run of the mill Farmall may never appreciate until the turn of the next millenium.
