Any carb that works is the best 1, although everyone has there favourite's.
I worked on a 1 bbl this week-end that had a carb kit put in within 5 years or so ago and roughly a hand full of common ailments they should be fairly easy to diagnose, jUST TIME consuming getting them right, and it was a carter.
Zenith are well liked also. I found removing the needle and seat and lashing them together was helpful to get a positive open and close. And also doing the same when the carb was assembled blowing air in the fuel inlet with "your pipe's" right side up... then upside down so the floats/weights close the needle in the seat and stopping the flow of fuel. Then there's bushing's ,clean passages, proper assembly, good gaskets, good floats and movement range's, and engine valve's to pull a good vaccuum through the carb. Now I'm looking for a procedure to set the valve clearance's on a 113 ci.
