Direction of the starter is determined while looking at the drive end. If they are installed from the front they will be CC drives. If installed from the rear they will be CCW drives.
The last time you posted about this I also was not able to find a starter number for one earlier that 1942.
A larger diameter drive may not be that hard to come up with but if it does not travel far enough to engage you probably need a longer drive end frame to make it work.
