This generator happened to have the holes pre-drilled and tapped into the generator casing. This one came off an older H. When I rewired the 1951 H, I decided to go with this older style so the regulator was protected from the weather. The 51H originally had the regulator on the rear gas tank support like your SH. You can buy the Delco voltage regulators with that piggy back built in. They are around $50 but you are getting good quality for the price. I had nothing but troubles with off brand regulators. When I converted to Delco last year on my other Hs, my charging problems ceased.
