Getting the pump out is simple but really needs to people as it is quite heavy. You have to take off the outside fittings and the handle. There will be a cover between the pump and the transmission - when you remove it you will see the coupling that drives the pump. Remove that and all thats left is the 4 bolts that hold the pump in place. I've found a hydraulic floor jack works well to raise and lower the pump. Use a second person to steady it. Concerning oil leaks there is a seal on the shaft and a gasket on the 2 halves and thats about it for places to leak.
