A while ago I posted seeking advice on rebuilding the governor on my SA. Thanks for the advice. I have wound up rebuilding most of it. In the housing, the bumper spring was shot and replaced, the spring lever had an 1/8" divot worn in the top from hitting the high speed adjustment, the spring had worn a groove in the hole on the lever (I jb welded these), replaced the rockshaft that was badly rusted, pitted and scored (from the failed needle bearings), replaced the needle bearings and replaced the governor spring (installed it as per the service manual pointing the right way). I did not bush out the input shaft, that was the only thing that seemed OK. On the drive gear the thrust bearing was badly worn and replaced. The thrust pin was frozen in place. With heat and penetrating oil, I was able to remove it and and replaced the thrust spring and pin. Before I removed the gear, I marked the teeth so it was installed in the same location.
Now, upon reinstallation and sync'ing the rockshaft with the carburetor the rock shaft arm hits the alternator belt when going toward idle. Any guidance on where I have gone wrong would be appreciated. Thanks.
