I live in sw Michigan where, at least to me, dog ticks are unheard of in the winter months. We have had several weeks of temps in the 10-20’s. This morning I found a tick feeding on my dog’s ear.
I keep a dog house on the kitchen porch, out of the wind, for her to use if I fall back asleep when she has to go out in the middle of the night. The only thing I can think of is that I bought a new bale of straw for the doghouse a week ago and the tick might have been hibernating in it.
I sprayed the inside of the doghouse and hopefully that will do it.
