Big Fred: I definitely do not claim to be an expert on tractors. I am just muddling my way through. My governor may still be broken. As I said, I have not had a chance to really try my repair out yet. There are two hooks on the ends of the spring. They open to the same side of the spring. Both the text and the diagram in the I&T shop manual for the A say/show the hooks opening 180 degrees off - i.e. one hook points to the governor housing and the other points away. Bermuda Ken sold me the spring. He is a smart guy, but it is possible he sold me the wrong spring. If the governor does not work, I will tear it apart and measure the spring size. Wish me luck.
