You may not feel a difference creeping around the driveway in 1st at an idle. There's barely a difference at that speed..
However, the difference is more noticeable if you're in 4th gear. Start out in 4th with the TA back. Wind the tractor up and let the TA lever ahead. The tractor should feel like it shifted into a faster gear.
Make sure you have plenty of room when you do that, though... Start off going down the road, unless you live on a busy road...
If you feel no difference, and the tractor continues to move, then you may have a bad TA clutch. The "high" side of the TA is out, technically. It'll probably coast downhill, so watch it and make sure your brakes work!
