I have both a Farmall M and H with 9 speed Heisler's installed and they are a great item with the additional gears and speed ranges. They seem to be fairly common for the M but far from it for the H. I looked for about five years for a decent H with a 9 speed Heisler. I only heard of a couple during that period and those were little more then salvage tractors. M&W also made them but after having the M Heisler that was all I would consider. The M&W ones might be a little more common on the H but I really don't know. Seemed they were more common in the heartland around tillage and heavy crop areas like Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, etc. as my uncle had one on his M in Iowa and it was really useful hauling in heavy loads of corn as you could have a high range 4th with a lot of torque and still have something like 12 mph on the roads. I have been told they were also common on tractors pulling rotary hoes in the corn fields in the same farming areas as you needed something around 7 mpg with the hoes. Both my H and M were originally delivered in Iowa to the original owner and used in the corn fields. I believe both were installed by the selling IHC dealer prior to delivery so don't have any knowledge of the actual installation. As noted below you need to be aware of the fact both the PTO and belly pump can be run at speeds higher then they were designed for and neither should be used with the 9 speed engaged. I believe everything from the front of the transmission back is running at about twice the normal speed with the 9 speed engaged in high range. You just got the five years worth of knowledge I acquired looking for a Heisler equipped Farmall H and hope it helps in your search, Hal.
