I converted one this week. Used a wood splitter pump and valve and a little 3 inch throw cylinder. I first changed to an alternator, made a bracket to set the alternator about 4 inches lower than where the generator was, made a bracket for the pump and put it just above the alternator with the supply line up and the pressure line down. Used a 3" belt pulley. Made a bracket out of 3/4" steel and mounted the cylinder bracket to the two holes on the left clutch housing. I used the existing holes in the hand lift mechanism for the cultivators and pinned the other side of the cylinder. Made a hyd. reservoir out of 2x4" tubing, welding in pipe fitings for supply, return & fill. Drilled two holes at 90 degree angles in the fill plug, which was a 1/2 " pipe plug, for ventilation. Moved the battery box under the seat and placed the reservoir where it was. I mounted the valve on the reservour, used 2 30" hyro hoses for the cylinder. a 48 " pressure hose from the pump to the valve, and one inch clear plastic tubing for the returns to the reservoir. Worked like a charm. It uses all the original hand lift mechanisms. The only thing worrying me is the increased load on the fan bushing from those tight belts, but they are cheap. If you can weld and cut steel, it is easy done. Hope this helps.
