I think IH sort of shot themselves in the foot so to speak when they went to a propitiatory 1 pt 2 pt hitch instead of the 3 pt, that others were using at the time. They were thinking getting implement sales only from IH. Later IH's had 3pt or at least an option. The 3pt became a recognized standard around late 1950's I could be wrong in that date. 3pts are offered in Type 1 Type 2 and type 3 depending on HP of tractor. May not be so easy to hook up implements, but easy if the implements are unhooked and stored off the ground properly. Also Super 'A's and other IH tractors originally equipped with 1pt or 2pt can be converted to a 3pt and open up a host of implement choices from other manufacturers. Some 3pt conversions easier than others.
