A wide front off a 400 can be modified to fit a 300 I know for sure. The holes in the steering knuckle usually have enough clearance in them the they will bolt up; if not they can easily be enlarged a little and it will not hurt anything. The main mounting cradle is that same between them all (H, SH, 300, 350, M, SM, 400, 450). The rear support cradle however, is 2" taller and 2" wider for the M, SM, 400, and 450 tractors. Again, it can be cut down, and new holes drilled to bolt up the the smaller framed H, SH, 300, 350. When doing this though, the front end will sit 2" taller than normal. May or may not be abig deal to you and will also depend some on your front and rear tire sizes.
Pictured is my old 300 with a wide front off an M I modified to fit. As you can it sits a little high in the front. However, it did have 6.50-16 on the front and only 11.2x38 in the rear. That three-point on the back also squated the back end a bit more.
