Above the oil filter and on the side of the engine block look for the cast number and letters following the number. Should be 6722D?, second letter changed over the years. Most times IH replacement blocks used another casting #. IH did make some replacement blocks with C248 cast on them. Engine serial # stamped on the block down below the # one spark plug, should have the prefix letters FBKM on non diesel engines. Replacement blocks don't have a serial # on them unless someone stamped one when installing.
