Loco: That should be a late 1948 Farmall C. Good tractor but I am biased as I also have two of them. The engine serial number is on a flat spot just above first sparkplug behind the fan. The throttle pushrod is about over it and that number will be somewhat close. Major cast iron pieces will have a code cast into them that has 3 parts. The first two indicate day and second is month and the last is a letter. Q is 1948 and R is 1949 and so on.. The top deck above the tranny just behind the clutch has codes. One should also have Q as the last letter if it really is a 1948. They came with dual wide and narrow front ends as well as other options. Any and all books written by Guy Fay are great source of info on Farmalls letter series tractors.. Good luck..Harvey
