Gears have a pitch diameter that drives the center to center spacing. A gear with 12 teeth must match that pitch spacing, or be wrong. If it had wierd thin teeth it could work, but I cannot imagine it being correct. The starter drive would need to be raised off of the centerline of the mounting hole to allow the correct diametral pitch and pressure angle teeth to be correct with 12 teeth. Jim
