Well, basically, it means your engine is worn out and these adaptors were a last ditch attempt to coax a few more miles out the the old "Jenny" before she either went for a rebuild or went to the scrap-yard. Go ahead and give 'er a rebuild and she'll kiss you right on the lips, for another 50 years or so......
