Aftermarket repair manuals have always been iffy. Anything from not covering what they should to bad info. I have the IT manuals for both my 1206 and my Ford 8N. I'm looking for the IH manuals for the 1206. I'm not impressed with the IT one. Seems to be alful thin to cover the tractors listed on the cover. Haven't found any bad info in it yet. The one for the 8N covers 3 tractors, the 9, 2 and 8 N's. They all used the same engine until the last couple of years on the 8 series. The trannies were similar and the hydraulics close. I wouldn't be afraid of the IT for a simple tractor like the letter series from IH/Farmall.
Another place to look is at tractor and farm toy shows. You can vendors there who are selling used original ones sometimes pretty reasonable.
