About the only way a 400 will no-till is if you add a heavier seeding unit such as the Yetter units that were available. These were a complete unit that replaced the original seed placement unit. They would work ok in soybean ground and such, but not the best in sod or harder ground. It would be better to move up to the 800 series planter which no-tilled good, as least my experiences were good with it.
