You'll have to trace the hot wire back to the pushbutton switch paying special attention to the connectors on the wire ends. After this, check for voltage from the pushbutton back to the key switch or ammeter--again paying attention to connectors. If no success here, check for voltage from the solenoid terminal on the starter which feeds the key switch or ammeter. Can't remember if there is a fuse in the pushbutton starting circuit or not--I don't believe there is one.
