Kelly, Good to see you back, on the boards. A 966 is a great tractor for I have one also. The Batts are connected in series like this ,,,,, 2,,, 6 volt batts, in this fashion ......., Starter,to->HL Batt--> + --> - to RH Batt--> + --> - ..to Ground (frame). Pretty much like El Toro said. The DT414 doesn't like to idle around they will go to slobbering oil out the exhaust., if it that happens just hook it to a heavy plow and run her hard for a couple of hrs it will stop.
