If you had the carb off of the tractor, the small tang and slot system on the tube connecting the governor to the carb throttle is not in its correct place. If you didn't, the throttle was left in the open position when it was shut off, and the throttle shaft stuck in the carb, leading to dramatic overspeed. The throttle shaft movement can be checked with removal of the front cup with tube cover on the top of the governor, or by removing the screws and pulling part way open the connection at the carb. Sorry about the destruction, I hope that was all that got wounded. Jim
