A lot of times our first thoughts and ideas are the best. In your case I think the idea of a pull behind (trailer) type mower would suit your need of mowing and using the tractor in the garden. If the tractor was a dedicated mower I would say the belly mower.
I like the trailer type mower because it follows around corners and obstacles better than a 3pt. And all you do is disconnect and go on your way. And you can use one as wide as you like without having to consider the weight on the 3pt.
