You will find that the proper adjustment of the top link of the tractor's 3-point hitch to be very important in using your box blade. For spreading soil or loose gravel shorten the upper link enough to make the box blade "float" on the front part of the side skids. This will raise the blade and make it less aggressive. Lengthening the top link will make the blade more aggressive by allowing the blade to engage the ground sooner.
