If he just wants it to run there's a long list off head numbers that can work. If he wants the origial type knowing the tractor serial # with any suffix letter or numbers may help narrow the choice down. Also if he has the old head the casting number of it, most times can be found near the top center of the head. Thats with the valve cover removed. Some later ones will work and have a smaller combustion chamber to raise compression if wanted also. Most M tractors built for using gasoline for fuel used a 8060D to 8060DC casting or 8574D to DB. 8060DD and 8574DC will be a dirrect replacement for those also.
