The A was always offset -- the left final drive mounts up hard to the differentia/tranny with a short shaft transmitting the power between the two. On the right side the shaft was longer and enclosed in a housing. The i8" width of the housing in between is where the seat and platform are. The front would have been a wide-front configuration offset simlarly to the rear.
On the B, the shaft housing on the seat side is 22" in width, so the seat platform is wider to match it. the left side of the rear also has the longer shaft and 22' housing between the diff and the final drive, so that the tranny and driveline are centered between the rears (not offset like the A). The front end of the B was always narrow with either the NFE (two tires) or SFE (single tire).
The only difference between the B and BN is that the shaft housings on the rear are each 18" wide, making the chassis 8" narrower than the B. That 18" measurement is the same as on the right side of the A.
Comparing all three, the distance between the finals (and so the width of the drawbar) is narrowest on the A, 18" wider on the BN and the B another 8' wider than that.
If it has the pan seat on the original type supports, one of the easiest ways to distinguish a B and BN at a glance is how the outboard, right seat support mounts. On a BN, that outer support bolts up to the final drive and shares a few bolts with the fender, just like it does on an A. On a B, that support mounts to a bracket set in the floor pan about 4" inboard of the final drive.
