Maybe the parts person wanted to make sure the head wasn't replaced with another in the tractors lifetime, or maybe clueless. 450 tractors only used one LP head cast # 364586. If your head has that # on it should be simple to look up LP valves for a 450 or C281 engine. 400 tractors with C264 engines are also listed in the parts books with 450 C281 engines. 400 tractors used two different LP heads on them that resulted in two different length valves. Last type C264 LP head was the same as a C281 head.
