Rock guard

During an archeaological dig on an old farm a wrought iron object identified as a rock guard for a tractor (hay cutting) was found. The object had been stamped with lil MD 989. A local farmer stated that it was an early International? I'm trying to find out more information concerning the object/markings such as maker and possible age. If any one has an idea I would appreciate it.
