Slightly bigger engine, higher gearing and something else I can't remember off the top of my head. Actually as I think of it the engine might be the same size but maybe theres more compression or rotational speed, the Super M made a little more power anyway. I've got a Stage I, 1952, back when my great uncles were still farming they had it and an M. The M got used to push snow, they claimed that with the lower gearing it was better suited for that job than the Super. The Super M got the bush hog as it was a touch faster and could handle heavier cutting more easily although if the cutting was easy they had an H they'd put on the mower because it was easier on gas.
