Radiator drain pipe size

Wondering if someone could tell me the size of the drain pipe on the radiator for an H, (46). Thinking of adding an elbow and stopcock to the drain. Reason is twofold - one noticed that if I release the cap on a single front it drains right on the tires - two dont want the dogs or other animals to die from licking antifreeze. Figure it would be easier to have a stopcock and plug - can add a hose or something first to direct the flow into containers. Let me know if I have gone over the deep end with this one.
