Oven cleaner or Easy Off which ever you may call it works very well. I am restoring one of the less popular green ones for my wife. A Oliver 77. It was caked with grease everywhere. I sprayed it all down sheetmeatl and all and let it sit out in the hot sun for about 4 hours and then went to work with the pressure washer. It makes a hard job a whole lot easier let me tell you. That grease just melts away. As you were saying though be careful around aluminum. I dang neared ruined my serial number plate. I am still kicking myself, because it was absolutly perfect not even a scratch. And also shield your face real well or I suggest using some type of respirator when applying. That stuff is mean and it will burn you up inside. I do mine in the gravel driveway, because it will kill grass when you wash it off and all that Shhhh!!! lead paint gets melted and comes off too. I use oven cleaner from the Dollar General, it is a $1 a can compared to $3.95 at Wal-Mart and works just as good. I am doing a second application now and I on my 5th can, so it is economical and saves a lot of work. You will still have to scrape and sand, but not as much. Sorry so long. Bill {Antique Acres}

He had told my father
